Yoga Stress Relief

Short practice to try to help you manage your stress levels.

National Stress Awareness Day – 5 Nov 2014

The theme this year is  Stress: the balancing act.

It is sometimes difficult to keep the balance right in terms of work, play and lifestyle. A regular yoga practice can help you to regain a more balanced lifestyle.

Yoga Stress Relief – Here is a simple yoga technique to try.

  1. Conscious movement with breath.
Find a comfortable seated position (chair, kneeling, cross legged).
Allow your hands to rest on your knees with your palms down.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
When you feel ready start to take deeper breaths, make your breath as long as you can whilst maintaining a smooth breath.
As you breath in turn your palms up keeping you arms soft.
As you breath out turn your palms down keeping you arms soft.
REPEAT 6 times rest and then repeat again.

You can do this as often as you like through the day to help you to reduce your anxiety levels.

Yoga Student “I like working with my breath during my yoga practice as it introduces a calm rhythm to my movements and helps me feel focused and relaxed at the same time.”
