Power of Breath on Our Nervous System
In this workshop, I’ll give simple examples of how our nervous system governs our feelings and reactions. We will investigate how our movement and breath can improve our ability to glide through different nervous-system states.
We will consider different parts of our nervous system including the Vagus nerve; how does it affect you and how can you influence vagal tone. Alongside the discussions, there will be two 30-minute yoga sessions for you to experience these ideas. In this workshop, I will explain in simple terms the structure and function of your nervous system and how it can affect your feeling of thriving or surviving.
Until a couple of decades ago, few people believed we could influence the Autonomic Nervous System and Vagal Nerve with our breath.
Breathing can affect our nervous system
In the workshop I will talk through the natural responses of our body to different stresses and how our Vagal tone can influence our ability to bounce back or get knocked off balance.
Through yoga practice, we will work with the breath, movement, sound and awareness of sensations within our body.
Yoga teaches us to sharpen our senses to become attuned to when our body is asking for our attention. In this workshop, you will learn how to recognise these signs and will learn techniques to improve vagal tone to help you ride the waves life throws at us.
The morning will be broken down into three theory/discussion session each about 10 minute long. Two yoga practice sessions about 30 minutes long and time at the end to reflect on the content ask questions or make observations.
