Workshop – Managing Anxiety
Do you want to…
- Learn quick tools to shift from anxious to calm
- Practice movements to help relax tension in your body
- Experience how breathwork can reduce stress levels
- Explore how our thoughts can affect our body shape
- Discover how our body shape can affect our thoughts.
Do you want to manage your feelings of anxiety in a different way?
In this workshop, you’ll learn ways to recognise how your body can add to feelings of anxiety.
You can try out ways of changing your body’s stress response. We’ll explore how bringing our attention to the body with movement and breathwork can help create a reduction in anxious feelings. Alongside these body-orientated tools, we’ll also look at how we can shift our thought patterns when feeling anxious.
Who’s it designed for?
This workshop is for people struggling to manage their general anxiety levels. It’s not suitable if you are working with a therapist with unresolved traumatic events or are currently experiencing severe panic attacks. This is not a group therapy session but it will give you simple tools to help you manage and reduce anxiety levels.
Are you curious to learn ways to change?
My aim is to offer you a few different experiments to try that work alongside your body. These are designed to create fast, deep changes that stick.
You’ll be able to take away a practice guide that you can follow to help you to reduce your baseline anxiety levels.
What to expect
There’ll be a mixture of time for discussing concepts, and for practical experience through movement and seated breathing / mindful practices.
Movements will be simple – walking, standing or holding a position for a few minutes. You will be able to do the movement practice sitting or standing.
The 2-hour morning session will be broken down into:-
- 3 x theory / discussion / reflection
- 2 x practices, (yoga and embodiment)
- 1 x mindful / breathing practice
I’m really passionate about supporting people to reconnect with their body’s wisdom, in simple, practical ways that are quick and effective. I believe when we live in harmony with our body, we can feel more in control and make choices that support what we truly need.
If you’d like to learn ways to manage anxiety differently join me in the workshop on Saturday 11th June at Swansea Wellbeing Centre or via Zoom.
